National Apprenticeship Week 2024:
Careers in Engineering

This week, the UK is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2023. There will be several initiatives across the nation to get people talking about the prospect of pursuing an apprenticeship as an entry into the working world. Apprenticeships offer valuable on-the-job training coupled with classroom studying. Such schemes are an ideal career development opportunity for school leavers who want to gain an insight into the working world, whilst gaining valuable skills to allow them to access such careers.

Meet Jack Rhodes: Engineering Apprentice at VA Technology UK

Jack currently spends two days onsite, and three days at In-Comm Training Academy. This allows Jack to complete theory and practical assessments; whilst gaining hands-on experience at VA Technology.

Jack is currently working with our sub-assembly team. Since joining in the spring of 2023, Jack has completed project work in manufacturing, electrics and control panel assembly. “My work and studies are interconnected. I get to practice the theory I learn when I am onsite at VA Technology. An apprenticeship is the perfect entry to kick-start a career. You get support and guidance from experts in the field, and an opportunity to observe different job roles. If you want this to, then without a doubt, go for it,” said Jack Rhodes.

VA Technology is pleased to support apprenticeship programs to develop the next generation of workers. The company has also appointed four HNC Level 4 Apprentices in collaboration with In-Comm Training Academy (Telford). Our apprentices will gain practical, hands-on experience in fitting, turning, milling, welding, electrical, CNC, CAD and fluid power.
