IC-Series Robots:
The Backbone of Shelling Automation
Precision and repeatability are essential for investment casting. This is why we have engineered a comprehensive portfolio of shellroom solutions that take traditional shell-making into a streamlined, intelligent process. This includes automated solutions for ceramic shell coating to shell drying, with every shellroom system delivering consistent quality, reduced cycle times, and enhanced process control.
IC-Series Robots
Our Shellmaker System is built around the use of our IC-Series Robot, designed specifically for the rigorous process of lost wax casting. These robots form the core of our shelling robotic system, enabling precise automated shell dipping, shell coating, and shell building of complex wax pattern geometries.
IC-series robots are based on the Kawasaki, Fanuc, Kuka or ABB system with enhanced engineering for optimal performance in investment casting.

IC-Crystal: Shell Management System
At the heart of our automated shell-making process is IC-Crystal, our proprietary process management software designed to manage every aspect of ceramic shell production. Our IC-Crystal Shell Management System provides:
- Real-time monitoring of robot operation and part handling
- Long-term analysis of Key Process Variables (KPV) for quality assurance
- Environmental condition tracking to optimise shell drying and to ensure zero process variability
- Equipment service alerts and out-of-tolerance notifications
- Integration with slurry equipment, including sensors for temperature, viscosity, and slurry level control
- Compatibility with rotary rainfall sanders and vertical sanders for seamless process control
- Optional ceramic shell weighing system for coat-by-coat tracking
Process data is logged against a shell process library for traceability and review of part-specific processes to ensure every ceramic shell meets predefined standards.
Shell Coating Cells
Our shell lines are designed for full automation or hybrid manual-robotic operation. These systems support:
- Automated shelling solutions for consistent layer application
- Optimised drying of ceramic shells through controlled airflow and humidity
- Enhanced shell coating precision with programmable dipping cycles
