VA Technology is proud to mark 35 years of manufacturing excellence in shellroom equipment. The company was founded in 1988 based on a passion for engineering and a keen eye for design. A passion for engineering.
The company was founded in 1988 to transform investment casting from an art form to an efficient automated process. Jim Byrne, the founder of VA Technology, had a passion for engineering and robotic systems, which led to the development of automated shell manufacturing systems to ensure the smooth production of shells. This passion has been embedded in the company, as the engineers continue to develop technology to suit the needs of customers within the aerospace, medical, gas turbines and industrial manufacturing sectors.
Today, the company is led by Sean Byrne, Managing Director at VA Technology. “Our 35th anniversary is a significant milestone for our company, and we are extremely proud of our achievements over the past three and a half decades. We have come a long way since our beginnings, and we owe our success to our dedicated team of employees, our suppliers, and of course our customers. We are excited to continue building on our legacy of innovation and delivering world-class products and services for years to come,” said Sean Byrne.
Capacity upgrades to reflect the demand in systems.
VA Technology has sites in the UK, USA and China. The company has recently completed its latest round of upgrades to its manufacturing site in Solon, Ohio (USA). The manufacturing site has been overhauled and capability expanded with the addition of a brand-new control panel assembly bay, as well as expanded spare parts inventory. A large shell system assembly bay allows the team to build a shell system for testing and customer approvals. With this addition, VA Technology will increase its manufacturing capacity by 25%. The company has also enhanced its operation functions to strengthen collaboration between design engineering and manufacturing. A key component of this process has been the training and recruitment of highly skilled professionals, with VA Technology now employing more than 170 people worldwide.
Supporting customers across the world.
VA Technology understands that halting production in investment casting can jeopardize a production schedule. This is why the company offers support programs for all its customers, including remote support, technical assistance, and fast response times. Investing in $1.5M of inventory stock allows VA Technology to provide a fast turnaround on spare parts, as well as having fully-stocked service vans to perform repairs quickly. “In recent months, we have welcomed technicians and engineers to our customer support team, allowing us to provide the fast response our customers need. Our technicians can perform routine inspections and assessments of the shellroom equipment with recommendations to ensure the equipment operates to its full potential”, said Sean Byrne.
Outlook for investment casting.
As companies plan to operate smarter factories, there is a drive to automate investment casting with the implementation of IC-Robots and automated controlled shellroom equipment. Investment casters are embracing digital technology, including shellroom management systems that record key process variables (KPV) data. Such information is monitored meticulously by VA Technology’s IC-Crystal system to enable manufacturing teams to make informed decisions and continuously improve their processes.
