Providing shellroom solutions for
investment casting
Foundries across the world manufacture metal castings using high-quality shells designed for complex and detailed castings. The shell-building processes will vary between foundries; some may be manual, and others may be automated using a robot arm. VA Technology understands that processes can vary from one foundry to another and that a tailored approach is needed from one customer to another.
Despite the differences, robust equipment remains a requirement. By utilising robust and reliable equipment, foundries can design wax patterns, improve precision with tight tolerances, and create intricate shapes and surfaces. Our ‘core’ slurry tanks range from 600mm-1600mm in diameter with optional automated features and sensors to suit your manufacturing process. Slurries can be applied to the shell through immersion or flow coating techniques. Alongside this, we have also engineered our sanders with rotary or vertical oscillatory, or fluidised bed applications to control the application of stucco to meet the desired shell structure and porosity characteristics.
Our customers have confidence in achieving a high-quality shell. This is because we can manufacture equipment to bespoke dimensions to suit their production requirements and individual floorplans. Our product range includes IC-series robots, rapid drying systems, slurry preparation systems, dust collection systems, environmental control systems, slurry pumping systems, integrated shell management systems, and more.
Why Choose VA Technology?
Our systems have enabled our customers to increase throughput, reduce shell defects, reduce waste materials, and improve shell reproducibility. This is why many of our customers have now transitioned from manual to automated shellroom systems for investment casting processes. Our engineers and field service technicians have supported these customers throughout the journey with project management support and bespoke training programs.
VA Technology shellroom systems are used for all types of investment casting applications. We have more than 35 years of experience in the design, manufacture, installation, and service of shell manufacturing equipment throughout the investment casting industry.
