Fluidised Beds

Designed for efficient, uniform stucco coverage of intricate components.

Fluidised beds allow efficient stucco coating during the shell-making process, resulting in a rapid build-up of shell thickness. Using a fluidized bed is recommended for complex geometry shells. Fluidised beds occupy less space than an equivalent rainfall sander, proven useful for foundries where space is at a premium.

Fluidised Beds

Fluidised beds are available in standard sizes as follows: 600mm-1350mm (24”-53”) diameter; 600mm-1500mm (24”-59”) depth. Fluidised beds can be manufactured to specific dimensions if required.  Each model is designed to operate under automatic control with the robot system. The turbine blower characteristic is matched to suit the broadest range of stucco media types.

Our fluidised beds contain clean-out ports. We also offer manual or automatic cleaning options for maintenance.  The optional automatic cleaning system incorporates a sand filtration unit to remove agglomerations to a tray, allowing the reuse of existing decontaminated stucco.

Fluidised beds are designed to operate with multiple plenum zones, allowing pressurised air to be distributed across the full area of the bed. To ensure that the fluidised bed is operating at the correct pressure, a sensor is fitted into the pressure plenum, and interfaced with the control system. If the correct condition is not achieved, the shell is not dipped.

A range of turbine blowers are available, matched to the particular bed size and media. Turbine blowers are fitted with fixed or variable volume control to optimise fluidising and to minimise a rise in temperature in the media.
